A Little Behind What's Going On

Against the backdrop of a rather spiritually dull, lifeless and desperately needy New England context – ripe for harvest and rich with opportunity for a holy (other) spiritual experience – God has providentially gathered together a group of 10 Christians who share a like faith within a diversely unified expression of humble orthodoxy in the Reformed tradition. Central to our identity are the following:

In an ever-increasing measure, this is what we have been experiencing over the past 6 years, and what we seek to crystallize and cultivate in a church planting context. There is among us a core conviction that God has called us together to “know Him better than we know anything and to enjoy Him more than we enjoy anything”. With this as our driving passion, we feel God will effectively, wisely and winsomely lead us according to His will and purpose for this time and place in ways we could never prepare for or anticipate.

Danny, Cyndie, Jerry, Sue, Moe, James, Josephine, Jim, Allison, Paul, Dave, and Kalila began meeting Wednesdays at 7:00 PM at Danny’s home on October 4th under the banner of the centrality of God in the heart of God. We truly believe that Jesus Christ is the most beautiful thing/being/reality in existence and that this is evident as we unfold each passage of Scripture. Our plan is to kick things off with an intentional working through of a biblical text for 20, 30 or 40 minutes, while entertaining questions and appropriate discussion. From there, more fellowship, prayer, and perhaps communion as God may lead. We view this time as an extension of our friendship set aside for specifically focusing on God as he has revealed himself in Scripture and feasting on him together. In lieu of this, we have set up the site God-centered.com to serve as a way to introduce new people to the community, to provide relevant discussion stemming from our meetings, and to encourage the saints with a host of resources and links. The site is still in progress, so there are many things we are trying to do to get it tip-top. Let us know what you all think. We are really excited about what God has been doing as our recent gatherings are in step with, and are overflow of what has been happening in our friendships for the last few years. Please pray that God would encounter us gloriously and delightfully.

The Skinny: We are at the brink of a burgeoning community, drawn together by the infinite beauty of Jesus Christ. Theologically, we are Reformed, baptistic, and hedonistic.
